Print Files and Formats

SENDING YOUR FILES: Preferred file format is PDF/X1-a (also acceptable is a hi-res PDF). Please state which publication and issue your ad is for. Burn file onto a CD and send it along with a printed, hardcopy proof (SWOP recommended) to Joei Heart's attention at the address above. Materials submitted will not be returned.
Please review our policy on receiving printed proofs for all advertising materials:

DIGITAL FILES ARRIVING WITHOUT HARDCOPY COLOR PROOFS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED WITHOUT A WAIVER.
We do require a printed, hardcopy proof for ad materials. Without it there is potential for incorrect printing of ads. eRepublic is not responsible for any unintended variations in the ad. Should you wish to decline to send a proof please send us a written waiver stating so.

Using FTP

Files can also be sent via FTP. Note: Our policy on receiving a printed proof still applies (see above). Should you wish to decline to send a proof, please send us a written waiver stating so.

Since the FTP server uses authentication, it is easiest to access using an FTP client rather than using a web browser. A good, free, client for windows is Core FTP http://coreftp.com/ or SmartFTP http://www.smartftp.com/ . For Mac OS use Fetch http://fetchsoftworks.com/ or Cyberduck http://cyberduck.ch/ .

The URL for the ftp server is: ftp://ftp.govtech.net

Send an email to the production manager production@erepublic.com to request the username and password for the FTP site.

Please be sure to upload the file to the appropriate publications folder. Important: This must be followed by sending an email to the production manager production@erepublic.com with the name of the file and the issue and the publication into which it is to be inserted. Otherwise we won’t know your ad has arrived. Should you wish to decline to send a proof, please send us a written waiver stating so.
- In original files, when saving the PDF/x-1a, adhere to the following:
  - All fonts and high-resolution images must be included (embedded) when the PDF/X1a file is saved
  - Only use Type 1 Postscript fonts & OpenType fonts - No TrueType fonts, no Multiple Master fonts and no font substitutions. (Convert fonts to outline when applicable)
  - Use stylized fonts - Do not apply style attributes to basic fonts
  - Images must be SWOP (CMYK or Grayscale only) TIFF or EPS between 200 and 400 dpi
  - Do not nest EPS file into other EPS files. Do not embed ICC profiles within images
  - All required image trapping must be included in the file(s).
    Text containing thin lines, serifs, or small lettering ideally should be kept to one color.
  - Right reading, portrait mode, 100% Size, no rotations
  - Include standard trim and bleed marks placed 1/4" outside trim (No marks in the "live" area)
  - Total area density should not exceed SWOP 300% TAC

Important Notes - Terms - Conditions

All sizes are given in inches. Diagrams indicate size only, not positioning. 1/2 Page, 1/3 Page and 1/4 Page ads may be combined on a single page.

Advertisers and advertising agencies assume liability for contents of all advertisements printed and any claims arriving therefrom against the Publisher.

All advertisements must be clearly identified with the trademark and/or signature of the advertiser.

The word “advertisement” shall be printed prominently on advertisements that, in the opinion of the Publisher, might be confused with editorial pages.

Publisher reserves the right to reject any advertisement not considered suitable for publication.

Production Charges

Minimum production charge $140.00. Any additional production charges will be billed to the advertiser (or agency) at our studio rate of $140.00 per hour plus expenses.

Files Storage

All advertising materials will be automatically discarded one year after insertion.
