e.Republic Names New GOVERNING Editor
Veteran government journalist Tod Newcombe to lead respected monthly policy publication
SACRAMENTO, CA., Dec. 21, 2009 - Tod Newcombe, a journalist with nearly 20 years of experience in the government market, has been named editor of GOVERNING, a monthly magazine covering public policy and management for states, cities and counties.
Newcombe, editor of Public CIO magazine since 2003, will be responsible for day-to-day editorial operations at GOVERNINGand its companion website GOVERNING.com. GOVERNING has a monthly circulation of 85,000 which includes governors, legislators, local elected and senior public officials. e.Republic, publisher of Public CIO and its sister publication, Government Technology, acquired GOVERNING Dec. 1 from the Times Publishing Company.
Newcombe was founding editor of Public CIO, which covers technology policy and management for federal, state and local government executives. In 2007, the publication was named Magazine of the Year by the American Society of Business Publication Editors. In 2008, Public CIO received an Editorial Excellence Award from FOLIO and in 2009 was named Best Non-Paid Trade Magazine by the Western Publishers Association.
Steve Towns, editor of Government Technology, will serve as interim editor of Public CIO until a permanent replacement is named.
