The Web Developer position is within the Web Production section of the IT Department and will be responsible for implementing web development projects for all web sites.

In a typical work week you will complete a handful of small/quick website fixes from our ticket queue, work solo on one or two medium size projects, and collaborate with other developers on one major project. Sample projects range from building a new website section front end for govtech.com or governing.com, creating a new API integration to pull content from another source, to redesigning an existing website or landing page using mockups from our design department. You will get exposure to a variety of different websites, project types, and code bases alongside a close knit group of experienced developers.


  • Designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise business websites across several different platforms including custom in-house CMS, Clickability, and Salesforce
  • Authoring developer-friendly documentation
  • Using version control systems, specifically GitHub
  • Communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Develop full-stack web sites and products based on various business initiatives
  • Problem solve and work as part of a team, to meet the needs of projects
  • Work with internal customers to solve website bugs and close tickets
  • Support and learn from senior developers
  • Move quickly on a constant flow of ideas, be able to wear multiple hats as needed, and have the drive to exceed expectations
The number one requirement and expectation of this position will have a great deal to do with phone calling, research and high-level customer service.
Large percentage of the day will be spent making outbound calls
Sending/drafting e-mails
Creating, editing and deployment of event promotion items
Maintaining and monitoring your level of outflow (calls, emails, blasts)
Multi-tasking and strong organization
Data entry and updating databases
Handle paid registrations, including: providing finance with information to bill/charge registration fees and reconciling with finance post-event.
Internet Research for quality leads – to increase list of potential invitees
Badge deadlines: Including but not limited to: Printing, stuffing and folding of registration materials, shipping/tracking materials to event locations.
Strict adherence to deadlines
Excellent communication skills to both customers and teammates
Travel to and provide onsite registration support for events, including: Set up of registration and exhibit area, greet attendees and process onsite requests, and working in coordination with onsite team. Note: Coordinator is still expected to be managing workload while on the road.


  • BA or relevant experience in custom PHP Full-Stack Web Design and Development; includes design, page layout, images, stylesheets, and server-side code
  • Comfortable working in Linux
  • Solid understanding of and experience with PHP, SQL, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and MVC framework
  • Techniques for troubleshooting and debugging
  • Service-oriented and innately driven to produce outstanding customer satisfaction and results
  • Possess a sense of urgency with strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Can work within the coding standards developed by the team
The position requires a great ability of customer service and professionalism over the phone.
The ability to move quickly from one call to another while keeping excellent customer service intact is extremely vital to this position.
The ability to multi-task is a must; and keeping up with the fast pace work environment. 
Proficient computer skills on Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and know how to navigate quickly on the internet.
Prior experience with Salesforce and Act-On is preferred (not required).
Typing of at least an average of 55 wpm.
Must have a minimum of two years of office experience.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication.
Must be able to travel to assigned events.
